We're super excited to share the fantastic details about how we value and support all SweepStars!
We believe in providing fair compensation, SweepStars receive between 80% and 96% of the total booking fee, depending on their experience, with a starting rate of 65% during the trial period.
Now, let's dive into some FAQs!
What is the hourly rate paid to SweepStars during their first 3 months? During the initial 3 months, SweepStars receive 65% of the hourly rate. With an average booking size of 7.1 hours, this kicks off at +R3,500 initially and then hits around +R4,200 per month. This starting rate covers additional support, background checks, and onboarding materials.
How does this compare to minimum wage and national averages? Our rates compare favourably to the Department of Labour's minimum rates for domestic workers. According to a BusinessTech study, the majority of South Africans employing domestic workers pay up to R3,500 per month.
What about SweepSouth's business model? We retain 4% to 20% of the total booking fee to cover our operational costs. This includes vetting, onboarding support, some transport costs, and the essential behind-the-scenes work that keeps SweepSouth running smoothly.
What influences domestic worker pay in South Africa? Several factors influence pay, such as market capacity, skill levels, supply vs. demand, and regulations like minimum wage. Unfortunately, economic strains can impact household decisions, affecting the livelihood of domestic workers.
What if I can pay more? We love that generosity! Tipping is there for clients who want to pay their SweepStars more, and tips go directly to them. Plus, added a feature to allow customers to pay more over and above the booking amount, with every extra cent going to SweepStars! you can read more about that here.
