👵 Elder Care - Everything you need to know ✨
👵 What is the Elder Care Service?
Our Elder Care Service is designed to help older adults live safely, comfortably, and independently at home. Whether you’re booking for yourself or someone you love, you can choose from once-off, recurring, or even same-day support.
SweepSouth Carers provide compassionate, non-medical assistance — from help with daily routines and admin, to companionship and light physical support. While not a medical service, it’s a practical, human-centred offering that brings peace of mind to families and dignity to those receiving care.
Every SweepSouth Carer is carefully vetted and brings a unique combination of experience and qualifications to the role. Some specialise in dementia or Alzheimer’s care, others hold nursing diplomas, and many have logged over 200 hours in professional care facilities. You’ll also find passionate newcomers who are certified and eager to make a difference.
Since care needs vary, we encourage you to review Carer profiles closely and choose someone whose expertise best matches your requirements.
✅ How It Works
This is an hourly, flexible care service you can book for yourself or a loved one.

👵A senior family member
🛌Someone recovering from surgery or injury

Booking Frequency Options:

✨ What’s Included in the Service
Carers are certified, vetted, and selected for their compassion and reliability. Tasks may include:
👫 Companionship
Carers offer friendly conversation and emotional support to reduce loneliness and promote mental wellbeing. They may also engage in light recreational activities like playing board games, reading aloud, doing puzzles, or assisting with hobbies such as knitting or gardening.
🍽️ Meal Preparation and Cooking
Carers can help prepare light meals or snacks, either following the client’s usual routine or working from basic instructions. They can also assist with reheating food, organising groceries, and ensuring hydration throughout the day. Check for this skill on their profile if you’re looking for extra delicious meals!
🧹 Light Housekeeping
This includes support with basic household upkeep such as sweeping, wiping surfaces, doing laundry, changing bed linen, washing dishes, and tidying up to maintain a clean and safe living environment. Carers do not perform deep cleaning.
💊 Medication Assistance
Carers can remind clients to take their medication on time, and help them follow a medication schedule by prompting them verbally or preparing pillboxes. However, Carers are not permitted to administer medication, provide medical advice, or adjust dosage. Any medical or clinical care must be managed by a qualified healthcare professional.
🦽 Walking and Mobility Assistance
Carers can support clients with getting out of bed, walking around the home, using mobility aids (e.g., walkers or canes), and moving safely between rooms. This includes supervision during bathroom trips or short walks where appropriate. Our service does not include lifting clients. For this, a trained healthcare or mobility professional should be consulted.
🧼 Personal Hygiene Support
For Carers with 200+ verified hours of hands-on experience, personal care assistance may include bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, dressing, and toileting. Clients are encouraged to review Carer profiles to ensure the right fit for their level of support needs.
💬 Other Tasks
If there are additional light tasks or routines that are important to the client’s comfort or dignity, these should be discussed with the Carer at the start of the booking to ensure alignment.
⏱️ Flexible, Time-Based Bookings
This is an hours-based service. You book the time you need, and the Carer will assist with what’s required during that time. Tasks should be prioritised upfront to make the most of the session.
🧑⚕️ Who Are the Caregivers and How Are They Vetted?
Not just anyone can offer Elder Care on SweepSouth. Every Carer must meet strict vetting criteria to ensure they’re equipped to provide safe and compassionate support.
All Carers are required to:
- Complete a reference check
- Undergo a criminal and background check
- Have either a recognised elder care certificate or at least 200 hours of practical experience in a care facility
We verify all certificates and experience directly with the relevant training institutions or care facilities as part of our reference check process.

💡 FAQs
Who are the caregivers, and how are they trained or vetted?
Carers must have a qualification in Elder Care which we verify by sending their details to the institutions who confirm that the student passed all exams and obtained the certificate.
Do I need to provide meals for the carer?
No, meals are not required — but you’re welcome to offer tea or a snack if you’d like.
Can I book the same carer again?
Yes! For recurring bookings, you’ll be matched with the same caregiver every time, as long as they’re available. We only onboard workers with strong track records of reliability and high customer ratings, because we know how important consistency is in care relationships. However, if your regular carer is on leave or unavailable, we’ll arrange a replacement who meets the same standard.
What if my needs change day-to-day?
That’s completely fine. Carers are flexible — just be clear about any priorities when they arrive.
Do you offer specialised care (Alzheimer’s, dementia, disabilities)?
Not as a dedicated service, but some of our workers do have training or experience in these areas — this is shown on their profiles.
What if the personality doesn’t match?
Before booking, review each carer’s profile, reviews, and qualifications. You’re welcome to try a few one-time bookings before committing to a regular carer to find the best fit.
Can I book care regularly or as needed?
Both! You are able to book a once off carer for the same day or future days. You are also able to book a regular carer on a daily, weekly, or a few days a week basis.
Do you offer overnight or 24-hour care?
We do not currently offer overnight or 24-hour care.
🚨 Emergencies
If a client experiences a fall, illness, or urgent medical issue:
📞 Please provide the Carer with Emergency Contact details so they can act and escalate accordingly when necessary
📱 Then contact the SweepSouth team at 087-711-0573
With every booking, we aim to deliver compassionate, respectful care that gives families peace of mind — and helps loved ones feel supported and seen 💛
